Social Media Goals

Social Media Goals by @MandyJHoffmanHave you set goals for this year?

How about goals for your use of social media?

Maybe you are not one who likes to set goals.  Or perhaps you have a whole page of goals to accomplish.  Either way, this post will encourage you.

There are a lot of social media goals that could be made.

  • Daily time limits
  • Gaining more likes
  • Developing a posting schedule
  • Engaging your audience more
  • Using affiliate links more
  • And on the list goes…

All of these are good goals.  For those of us who have products to sell or online businesses to run, these goals are essential to running a growing company or brand.  However, there is one goal that should be at the top of your list – or if you have no goals – your only goal.

What is that goal?

To glorify God through your use of social media.

Glorifying God simply means that what you think, say, and do lines up with Scripture and makes God look great.  Applying this goal means that what you post on your various social media platforms will be filtered through the lens of God’s Word and cause people to think well of God.

There is no secret sauce, special recipe, or twelve steps to make sure you do this the right way.  They way I apply this goal in my use of social media may look a bit different than how you apply it.  We are each growing in our walk with Christ – that is if you have a personal relationship with Him – and will be at different places of the maturing process.  What I won’t post may be something you would, and likewise, what you won’t post may be something I believe is good to post.  However, while our posts may vary, they all should line up with the Word of God. Here are a few questions to help you think through this:

  1. Does what I want to post go against what the Bible says is true?
  2. Does what I want to post purposely offend someone?
  3. Does what I want to post bring more attention to God than myself?

Remember this, whether you meet all your goals or not, God still loves you.  His love for us is not based on how well we accomplish our goals.  For those of you with many goals or for those with only this one goal, God delights in you!

Loved this post. Posting on FB is just an extension of our words, which reveal our heart. So–as with all words, they need to be bowed to the Lordship of Christ, which is always a full time job. Excellent encouragement. First time visiting here! 🙂 Nice to meet you.
