Scuffed Up Knees

I don’t remember the first time my Mom told me about her childhood knees. But I remember the stories she shared with me through out my own childhood. Stories of how her knees were always scuffed up.

As you can see in the picture above, Abby’s knees are always scuffed, scraped, bruised, scratched…you name it! She crawls around on the floor both at home and at school being anything from a horse to a spy. She trips and falls and puts holes in her pants. She’s a child. You can tell by her knees.

So the other day as she sat across from me I had a thought…

You can tell she’s a child because of her knees. It’s part of the process of growing up.

And then another thought hit me…

I want my own knees to show what part of life I’m in. I want my knees to be worn and calloused from being on my knees in prayer as I grow as a child of God.

A noble goal . . . I hope that my knees will also show what stage I am at. :0)
